Syndicates

Victorian Opera's Syndicates program is a new initiative that brings together small groups of like-minded individuals, providing an opportunity to support specific Victorian Opera activities. There are currently two Syndicates; the New Work Syndicate and the Education Syndicate.

Syndicate donations go directly to the area of Victorian Opera's work you feel passionately about. Syndicate members are acknowledged in Victorian Opera programs and invited to 'behind the scenes' events relating to the Syndicate.

New Work Syndicate

Are you passionate about new opera? By becoming a member of the New Work Syndicate, you would be supporting Victorian Opera's pioneering work in encouraging, workshopping and presenting new Australian opera every year.

Victorian Opera believes new work is the lifeblood of any artform. Creating new opera invigorates, challenges and makes connections which develop artists, the artform and the organisation creating the work. Previous mainstage new opera productions include acclaimed Rembrandt's Wife and Through the Looking Glass. This year the two Victorian Youth Opera productions feature new Australian operas: The Parrot Factory and The Cockatoos. Victorian Opera's 2011 Season will feature the new opera How to Kill Your Husband (and other handy household hints) based on a novel by Kathy Lette.

Education Syndicate

Does Victorian Opera's education work inspire you? Is education the reason you discovered opera and are passionate about it today? Victorian Opera works with children, young people and anyone who has not encountered this extraordinary artform before, to inspire, enthral and engage.

Victorian Opera's Education Program includes Victorian Youth Opera productions such as The Parrot Factory and The Cockatoos, regional performances and masterclasses, workshops in schools, professional learning sessions for teachers, tailored performances for school audiences, youth opera, Sing Your Own Opera and more. Miss Betty Amsden OAM is leading member of the Education Syndicate and looks forward to welcoming new members.
