Victorian Opera Ltd, established in 2006 under the artistic guidance of Richard Gill as Victoria's professional State opera company, seeks an outstanding person for the role of Managing Director. The successful applicant will work with the Board and the Music Director to set the Company's strategic direction and implement operational plans to take Victorian Opera to its next stage of development.
The Managing Director will need to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including board, government, staff, artists, funding agencies, patrons and donors.
The successful candidate will have high level leadership and management experience, preferably, but not necessarily, in arts or similar organisations; exceptional representational and negotiation skills; and the interpersonal skills necessary to build collaborative working relationships. He or she will be expected to exhibit analytical appreciation of the context, constraints and challenges of working in a creative operatic arts environment. This will be complemented by a high degree of professionalism, a strong achievement orientation, intellectual rigour and the capacity to persuasively represent the Company's interests in any setting.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
