The Damnation of Faust

Victorian Opera brings you a one-night only choral spectacular presenting the dramatic legend of The Damnation of Faust in concert. Lose yourself in Berlioz's exhilarating score, which vividly depicts Faust's pact with the devil.

 

Julian Gavin returns to Melbourne from London to sing Faust, Melbourne mezzo-soprano Tania Ferris sings Marguerite and Pelham Andrews is Méphistophélès. The massed forces of the Victorian Opera Chorus and Orchestra Victoria conducted by Richard Gill bring together this glorious music including the richly colourful intensity of the Hungarian March, Faust's Ride to the Abyss of hell, climaxing with Marguerite's redemption.

 

Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including one 20 minute interval
