Cosi fan tutte
19 - 26 August 2006| Mozart/Da Ponte
Cosi fan tutte is perhaps Mozart's most misanthropic work, into which he poured some of his greatest musical invention.
It features Antoinette Halloran and Jacqueline Dark as the adorable but fickle fiancees, Tiffany Speight and Gary Rowley as Despina and Don Alfonso who so deviously manipulate them, and Christopher Saunders and Christopher Tonkin as the trusting pair who receive a salutary lesson in human nature.
This production will see the long-awaited return of Jean-Pierre Mignon to the Victorian operatic stage, teamed with Christina Smith and Jon Buswell. Conducted by Richard Gill and featuring the Victorian Opera Chorus and Orchestra Victoria.
Sung in Italian with surtitles.
