The Magic Pudding Youth Artists
Victorian Opera is seeking ‘Youth Artists’ aged 18 – 25 with classical voice experience to perform as soloists in the 2018 season of The Magic Pudding - The Opera. These ‘Youth Artists’ will work alongside a cast of professional singers and a chorus of youth and community singers.
There are five (5) roles available in this production of The Magic Pudding. It will be presented at the Playhouse Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne in March 2018. Following this season the production will tour regional Victoria through to mid-April. The positions will be paid on a salary basis during rehearsals in line with the Live Performance Australia Award, and will also receive Per Diems when touring regionally.
Victorian Opera Youth Chorus Ensemble (VOYCE)
VOYCE, the company's Youth Chorus Ensemble, is for Secondary School students aged 13 - 20. It brings together like-minded classically trained singers on a weekly basis to prepare them for opera chorus performance.
Applications for the 2018 VOYCE ensemble are now open.
Auditions will be held at Horti Hall over the weekend of 10-12 November 2017.
Applicants will need to prepare two songs/arias with piano accompaniment, at least one in English. It is likely that the panel will only ask to hear one song, however in some circumstances two will need to be performed. Victorian Opera will provide an accompanist for the audition.
