The premise is simple. Four lifelong friends are meeting for their annual dinner at a restaurant they’ve visited for the past twenty or so years. This dinner, however, is different. One questions whether friends as old as they are could have secrets from another and what follows is a course by course unveiling of their deepest secrets.

Drawing upon Steve Vizard’s libretto, acclaimed French Chef Philippe Mouchel has created a 15 course degustation with the cast being served several dishes on stage.

Visually taste a delicious selection of these dishes.

Course 8: In Search Of Lamb Lost

A remembrance of family and mother’s meals….flashbacks of saddle of lamb, olive, lemon, memories of pommes rissoles and Italian chicory interrupted by dreams of Provençal anchoiade.

Course 15: Dante’s Inferno

Seven concentric circles of tray ripened cheeses lusting after a tartare of fallen seasonal fruits and vegetables, scorned by quince jelly, punished by a liquor of vinegar, entered through the gates of scorched gingerbread toast. Abandon all hope.

Banquet of Secrets was part of Victorian Opera's Season 2016 at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse.
