Last night saw the 31st annual Green Room Awards - a celebration of the performing arts in Victoria over the past year - and what a night it was! Victorian Opera and its artists were thrilled to attend the ceremony in Melbourne's Comedy Theatre, taking home six awards of the nine nominated categories.

The first win went to the talented Stuart Maunder for his direction of Victorian Opera's incredibly successful musical theatre production Sunday in the Park with George. Stuart will return to the work of Sondheim and Lapine in Into the Woods.

The challenge of conducting John Adams' incredibly complex score for Nixon in China paid off for Fabian Russell, who received the award for Conductor - Opera. Fabian will return to the Victorian Opera stage to conduct Hansel & Gretel.
