Our sensational cast for A Little Night Music includes some of Australia’s biggest musical theatre stars who bring a wealth of talent and experience. Discover their greatest roles and lose yourself in toe-tapping musical performances.

Much-loved leading man Simon Gleeson is most famous for his Helpmann Award-winning role as Jean Valjean in Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Les Misérables. His other musical theatre credits include Anatoly in Chess, Curly in Oklahoma! and Raoul in the Australian premiere production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies. He has performed dramatic roles in London’s West End and with both STC and MTC.

A grand dame of Australian theatre, Nancye Hayes shot to fame playing the title role in the original 1967 Australian production of Sweet Charity. A multiple Helpmann and Green Room Award winner, her musical theatre credits include Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Sweeney Todd, 42nd Street, My Fair Lady and A Little Night Music. She previously appeared with Victorian Opera in Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George.

Ali McGregor began her career as an opera singer and performed over 25 soprano roles before falling in love with cabaret and running away with the circus. As well as her hit shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and London’s Wonderground, Ali devised the operatic-cabaret Lorelei for Victorian Opera, which premiered in November 2018.

One of Australia’s most versatile leading ladies, Verity Hunt-Ballard is best known for her role as Mary Poppins in the stage musical for which she received a Helpmann and Green Room Award. With second Helpmann Award for her role as Charity Hope Valentine in Sweet Charity, her other stage credits include The Last Five YearsGuys and Dolls, The Rocky Horror Show and Jersey Boys.

A trained singer, Mat Verevis got his big break in 2014 on the hit TV show The Voice, making it to the top four on team will.i.am. While studying at WAAPA, he played Jack in Into the Woods, Womper in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Hermes in Xanadu. He made his professional theatre debut last year as Barry Mann in Beautiful: Carole King Musical.

Multi-talented Alinta Chidzey won a string of awards for her sassy portrayal of Anita in West Side Story. She is a regular with The Production Company and has performed in Jesus Christ Superstar, Show Boat, Singin’ In the Rain, Chess and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. She recently released her debut album Jazz and the Silver Screen.

After making her professional debut as Nessarose in the Sydney season of Wicked and touring Singapore and Seoul, Elisa Colla understudied the role of Cosette in Les Misérables and played Maria in West Side Story. In 2017 Elisa was chosen by Dame Julie Andrews to play the role of Eliza Doolittle for the remainder of the Melbourne season of My Fair Lady after previously understudying the role.

After coming up through Victorian Opera’ Artist Development Program, Samuel became a principal artist with Opera Australia and has also performed with New Zealand Opera, West Australian Opera and symphony orchestras around the country.
