Season 2026

Season 2026 marks Victorian Opera's 21st year and we're up for a celebration.

Season 2026

Subscribe to Season 2026 for a 20% discount, priority booking, dedicated customer service, hassle-free exchanges, and free on-demand Digital Access.

In Season 2026, Artistic Director Stuart Maunder AM has programmed a season filled with swashbuckling pirates, haunting ghosts and Aussie bush classics.

The Pirates of Penzance. Hurrah for the Pirate King! Set sail for a swashbuckling summer as Gilbert & Sullivan’s uproarious operetta storms the stage of the Palais Theatre.

Reg Livermore’s Ned Kelly: The Musical. His name is etched into national folklore. The outlaw bushranger, his gang and that iconic suit of armour — who was Ned Kelly? A celebrated anti-hero or simply a cold-blooded killer?

The Magic Pudding: The Opera. Filled with a measure of musical magic, deliciously playful costumes and a hearty helping of theatrical magic, this dinky-di delight brings Lindsay’s larrikinism to life.

The Coronation Of Poppea. Enter ancient Rome as the ruler Emperor Nero and his obsession Poppea ruthlessly pursue their love. Power, politics and passion paint the backdrop of Monteverdi’s masterpiece. Desire and betrayal claim centre-stage.

The Turn of the Screw. Henry James’ gothic novella has spooked generations of readers with this chilling tale of a governess, the children in her ward, and sinister forces that may — or may not — be tormenting them.

The Spare Room. The limits of friendship are put to the test in this adaptation of Helen Garner’s acclaimed novel . It’s heartening, harrowing and darkly funny.
