Union Theatre

The Union Theatre, a 398-seat proscenium arch theatre complete with orchestra pit and fly tower, is a showstopper in its own right. Towering 50 meters high, it’s the only theatre across all University campuses with a fly tower allowing theatre productions to shine.

The theatre consists of 3 levels – Stalls, Circle, and Balcony.

• The Arts & Cultural Building is located within the University of Melbourne Parkville campus on the corner of Monash Road and Porters Lane.
• As you walk down Monash Rd from the Swanston Street entrance (Gate 4), the Arts & Cultural Building is located on the left just after the Student Pavillion.
• The Union Theatre is on Level 2.

Parking

Grattan Street (between Royal Parade and Leicester Street) and Barry Street (between Pelham Street and Grattan Street) are closed to vehicles for up to five years due to the Metro Tunnel Project.

• You can drop off audience members and performers via Monash Rd. Enter via Gate 4 on Swanston St.
  There is a roundabout so you can turn around and go back out to Swanston St.
• The venue recommends that you plan to make a drop-off as the closest car park is the Eastern Precinct (park at the south end near Faraday St). For more details see Parking on Campus.

Patrons are responsible for checking ticket machines at time of the parking ticket purchase. Don’t forget to check closing times of undercover car parks.

Catch any Swanston St tram to Stop 1 – Melbourne University tram stop and walk up to the Monash Rd entrance (Gate 4).

Walk down Monash Rd, the Arts & Cultural building will be on your left.
